Helping students cope with academic pressure, Mindoro State University (MinSU)-Bongabong Campus opened its Mental Health Week Celebration on October 19, 2026 with a workshop on high-functioning anxiety and academic burnout.
The activity, organized by the Guidance and Counseling Office, featured registered psychologist Dr. Salvador P. Aguilar, who discussed mental health challenges that students may experience while meeting academic expectations.
Fourth-year student representatives joined the session to learn how to recognize signs of anxiety and burnout, understand their effects, and practice coping strategies to protect their well-being.
The workshop also underscored the importance of making mental health a priority, particularly as students balance academic requirements and other responsibilities.
The weeklong celebration, scheduled from October 19 to 23, 2026, also kicked off the Kapehan sa Guidance 2026, an annual initiative of the Guidance and Counseling Office that provides students with a welcoming space for conversations about mental health.
Through casual conversations over coffee, students are encouraged to take a break from their routines, share their concerns, and connect with others in an atmosphere of understanding and support.
The initiative aims to help build a campus environment where students feel comfortable talking about their struggles and seeking help when needed.
For the Guidance and Counseling Office, the message is simple: students do not have to face their challenges alone, and taking time to care for their mental health is part of their journey toward academic and personal growth. (jdtdc)
