In a deliberate move toward sustained academic collaboration, Divine Word College of Calapan and Mindoro State University formalized their partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Institutional Research and Extension and a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on International Conferences, held on February 11, 2026 at Divine Word College of Calapan.

The agreements were signed by Dr. Enya Marie D. Apostol, MinSU President and Mr. Leonel C. Mendoza, OIC Vice President for Research, Innovation, Technology and Extension, together with DWCC President Fr. Renato A. Tampol, SVD, PhD, and Research Officer Ms. Michelle B. Luzon. The ceremonial signing signaled a shared commitment rooted not merely in institutional formality, but in a unified intention to strengthen academic cooperation and community engagement.

At the core of the partnership is a structured framework for collaboration. Both institutions will engage in joint planning and implementation of community extension initiatives, strengthen partner communities through capacity-building efforts, and establish shared systems for monitoring and evaluation. In research and development, the alliance opens pathways for collaborative studies, co-authored publications in refereed journals, and participation in academic fora, conferences, and symposia.

The agreement also highlights academic and institutional support mechanisms, including the exchange of resource persons, researchers, and subject-matter experts, as well as the conduct of seminars, workshops, and training programs designed to promote scholarly advancement.

More than an administrative undertaking, the signing articulates a unified vision: that research must remain responsive, extension must be transformative, and academic exchange must be dynamic. In aligning their institutional strengths, both universities affirm that meaningful collaboration is not defined by ceremony, but by sustained and purposeful engagement. (marm)
