Thirteen student teams from Mindoro State University turned real-world challenges into proposed solutions during the MinSU InnoHack 2026: Innovate for Impact, a two-day innovation challenge designed to sharpen students’ skills in problem-solving, entrepreneurship, and pitching.
Held on September 14-15, 2026, the hackathon brought together student innovators from the University’s campuses for an intensive process of ideation, collaboration, solution development, and presentation.
The first day focused on workshops and idea formulation. Participants learned how to identify and validate problems, develop concepts, explore AI-powered solutions, and communicate their ideas effectively. Sessions were led by Dr. Cirile Dominic A. Horlador, IT consultant, technopreneurship educator, and startup mentor; Mr. Fheter John B. Calanday, technopreneur, software architect, and startup founder; and Mr. Julius A. Aala, startup enabler, trainer, and digital inclusion advocate.
Teams received their specific challenges on the afternoon of Day 1, giving them limited time to understand the problem, develop their concepts, and prepare their pitches. Despite the tight timeframe, all 13 teams made it to the presentation stage on Day 2, showcasing solutions shaped by teamwork, creativity, and resourcefulness.
The participating teams were H4CKW1Z, Mina de Oro Drone, XHunter, KEPL3R-37, Team Plotwist, Restart, Team Cure, Team Revion, Innovex, Team Agrinexus, EntretiAI, Team One, and Decifer. The teams’ presentations were evaluated by Dr. Horlador, Calanday, and Engr. Randy A. Joco, who also provided feedback and insights to help participants further develop their ideas.
For MinSU i-BIBES, the hackathon is not simply an endpoint. Teams interested in developing their concepts further may continue their journey through the upcoming MinSU i-BIBES Cohort 3 Call for Applications, opening opportunities for promising ideas to receive further support.
Through InnoHack 2026, MinSU continues to create spaces where students can move beyond learning about innovation and begin putting it into practice—turning ideas into solutions with potential impact beyond the classroom. (kpic)
