The official candidates for Mr. and Ms. MinSU 2026 were formally introduced during a vibrant sashing ceremony held at the Mindoro State University – Calapan Campus, signaling the start of the much-anticipated 5th Year Anniversary celebration of the University.

The ceremony served as the ceremonial opening of this year’s pageant season, gathering university officials, faculty members, students, and supporters in a display of institutional pride and unity. The event also marked the commencement of a series of pre-pageant activities leading to the grand coronation night on March 17, 2026, at the Calapan Campus.

In her opening message, Dr. Franie Afable, Campus Executive Director of the Calapan City Campus, outlined the timeline of activities for the full anniversary celebration, emphasizing that the pageant is one of the highlights of the University’s milestone year.

University President Dr. Enya Marie D. Apostol followed with a message underscoring the deeper meaning of the competition. She described MinSU as “a home where elegance meets talent and heart,” reminding candidates that the pageant transcends physical beauty. According to her, it is a platform that celebrates confidence, leadership, intellect, and the core values that define the MinSU community.

The ceremonial sashing was led by President Apostol, joined by university officials and college representatives. Each candidate was formally vested with their sash, symbolizing not only their official entry into the competition but also their responsibility to embody the ideals of the institution.

This year’s roster of candidates represents a diverse cross-section of academic disciplines, including the College of Arts and Sciences, College of Agriculture and Allied Fields, College of Business and Management, College of Criminal Justice Education, College of Teacher Education, College of Computer Studies, and the Institute of Fisheries.

Donne Fernando Guerrero, Deputy Director for OSSE of the Calapan Campus and pageant director, presented the official guidelines, mechanics, and judging criteria. He emphasized transparency and fairness, assuring both candidates and the university community that the competition will be conducted with integrity and professionalism.

In the weeks leading to coronation night, the candidates will participate in sponsor visits, press presentations, and various pre-pageant engagements designed to showcase not only their poise and stage presence but also their advocacies and commitment to service.

Mr. and Ms. MinSU 2026 promises to be more than a showcase of pageantry - it stands as a celebration of beauty, strength, intellect, and heart, embodying the spirit of MinSU’s five years of growth and service to the people of Mindoro. (marm)
