Decades may have passed, but the memories remained vivid as generations of alumni, former teachers and professors returned to their alma mater for Balik MinSU 2026: Grand Alumni Homecoming on August 22, 2026, bringing together people whose stories have been part of the institution’s 75-year journey.
Held as part of the 75th Founding Anniversary celebration of Mindoro State University (MinSU) Victoria (Main) Campus, the homecoming gathered alumni from various generations, including batches dating as far back as 1962.
Some came from different parts of the country, while others traveled from abroad simply for the chance to see their former classmates, friends and mentors again.
But the reunion was not only for alumni.
Former teachers and professors also returned to the campus, many of whom had been part of the institution when it was still known as the Mindoro National Agricultural School (MINAS) and later became the Mindoro College of Agriculture and Technology (MCAT), Mindoro State College of Agriculture and Technology (MinSCAT), and eventually MinSU.
For many who came home, the occasion meant more than simply attending an alumni gathering. It was a return to a place that had shaped generations of Mindoreños and a chance to revisit a chapter of their lives that remained close to their hearts.
The celebration began with a motorcade from Victoria Plaza Hotel to the MinSU campus in Alcate, bringing the alumni back to the institution where many of their stories began.
During the opening program, the different alumni batches were called and given due recognition. The roll call became an emotional and lively moment as former classmates greeted one another and remembered the years they spent together.
Former teachers and professors were likewise honored for the years they devoted to the institution and for the role they played in shaping generations of students.
As the program progressed, the formalities gave way to what reunions are often about - kwentuhan, tawanan at saya.
Old friends exchanged stories about their student days, recalled unforgettable experiences and laughed over memories that had remained with them through the years. For some, it was the first time in decades that they had seen one another.
The gathering also brought together generations who had experienced different chapters of the institution—from those who studied at MINAS to graduates of MCAT, MinSCAT and the present-day MinSU.
Despite the changes in the institution over the decades, the shared memories of school life provided a common thread that connected them.
The celebration continued with games, raffle draws and other activities that brought out the youthful spirit of the alumni. A community potluck lunch added to the fellowship, with participants sharing food and stories in the same spirit of camaraderie that has long been part of the MinSU community.
Dr. Enya Marie D. Apostol, University President also joined the celebration, lending her support to the alumni and the homecoming as the university commemorated the 75th anniversary of its Victoria campus.

served as a reminder that institutions are built not only through buildings,
programs and milestones, but through the people who pass through their halls
and carry their lessons into the wider community.
“Balik MinSU is more than a reunion. It is a celebration of the people who have been part of MinSU’s journey. No matter how many years have passed or where life has taken them, our alumni will always have a place here. MinSU will always be home,” said Jonbert M. Caoli, Director for Alumni Relations.
From MINAS to MCAT, MinSCAT and MinSU, the names may have changed, but the
memories and the bond among generations of MinSUans remain.
