Students from Mindoro State University (MinSU) secured first place in the MIMAROPA regional leg of the 2026 ASEAN-Japan Cybersecurity Awareness Video Competition with a short film highlighting the dangers of artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled cyberbullying.

Titled “Artificial Intelligence,” the winning entry was produced by the e-CYBER Team of the College of Computer Studies (CCS) at the MinSU – Victoria (Main) Campus. It warns how AI-manipulated photos can be used to embarrass, shame, and harass people online.

The video encourages internet users to think before editing, posting, or sharing digital content and to report AI-generated material used for bullying rather than contribute to its spread.

“Technology should be used responsibly. We want people to understand that behind every manipulated image or hurtful post is a real person who can be affected by it,” said CCS Dean John Edgar S. Anthony, the team’s adviser and coach.

The competition, organized by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) MIMAROPA Cybersecurity Bureau, encouraged schools across the region to produce educational videos that promote cybersecurity awareness.

The winning video was directed by Rijan Regala Palomera and Cymund Alfred Remulla Cuasay. Leah Mae Hernandez Abela and Daryl Juanito Bacongco served as actors, while Christian Joshua C. Berdera and Cristina Belarmino Madrigal handled the editing.

With the regional victory, the team has earned the opportunity to represent MIMAROPA at the national level, where it could advance to the international competition. (jdtdc)
