Mindoro State University (MinSU) has secured the endorsement of the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) for an international conference that seeks to strengthen university extension services, foster cross-sector collaboration and advance sustainable community development.

The endorsement, issued through PASUC Advisory No. 193, s. 2026, on Sept. 28, covers the 2026 LAWIGAN CON: International Conference on Extension, Community Engagement, and Sustainable Development, scheduled for October 29–30, 2026 via Zoom.

With the theme “People, Policy, Partnerships, and Practices: Bayanihan for Sustainable Futures,” the conference aims to bring together higher education institutions, government agencies, local government units, civil society organizations, development partners and international institutions to exchange research findings and effective approaches to community development.

Dr. Tirso A. Ronquillo, PASUC President, signed the advisory, which identifies scholarly exchange, research and extension innovations, policy dialogue, capacity building and collaborative partnerships as key objectives of the gathering.

The conference underscores the role of universities beyond classroom instruction and academic research, particularly in translating knowledge into programs that respond to community needs.

Through discussions on policies, partnerships and extension practices, LAWIGAN CON seeks to encourage approaches that promote innovation, social transformation and inclusive growth while strengthening the contribution of higher education institutions to sustainable development.

For MinSU, the PASUC endorsement marks an opportunity to widen institutional collaboration and advance community engagement initiatives through knowledge-sharing and partnerships across sectors.

Abstract submissions closed on October 15. The conference will be held fully online on October 29–30.
