Mindoro State University (MinSU) has secured a ₱4.9-million grant from the Department of Science and Technology–Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD) to strengthen technology transfer and commercialization.
The project, “IMPACT: Establishment of Technology Transfer and Management in Mindoro State University,” was approved and confirmed by the DOST-PCIEERD Governing Council on September 17, 2026. MinSU was among 26 universities nationwide selected under the program.
Implemented through the MinSU Office of Innovation, the project will establish systems for moving university research outputs from development to actual use by industries, government agencies, communities, and other potential users.
It will cover technology assessment and validation, intellectual property protection and management, portfolio development, licensing, commercialization, and industry partnerships. The project will also strengthen institutional policies, processes and personnel to sustain technology transfer activities beyond the grant period.
Through IMPACT, MinSU aims to create a clearer pathway from research and intellectual property to technology development, transfer, adoption and commercialization, turning university-generated innovations into technologies, services and solutions responsive to industry and community needs.
Project implementation will be led by Engr. Randy A. Joco, with Dr. Regine Ponce-Machete, Engr. Fernando Paralejas Jr., Mr. Uriel Melendrez, Mr. James Gullon and Ms. Judy Ann De Guzman.
The project will operate under the Office of the Vice President for Research, Innovation, Technology and Extension, headed by Assistant Prof. Leonel C. Mendoza, in coordination with the Office of Innovation. (jdtdc)
