In an era where technology shapes every aspect of daily life, digital responsibility and cybersecurity have become indispensable pillars of a safe and inclusive society. Recognizing this, Mindoro State University (MinSU) continues to take part in national initiatives that promote responsible digital citizenship and online safety.
Representing the MIMAROPA Region, Mr. Julius A. Aala, Junior TBI Manager of MinSU i-BIBES (Innovative Biosystems and Bio-Entrepreneurial Solutions), took part in the 2025 Cyberbayanihan Summit held in Davao City on October 17-19, 2025. Among 620 applicants nationwide, only 30 participants were chosen to join this year’s summit—a remarkable distinction that highlights MinSU’s growing presence in digital literacy and technology advocacy.
The event, funded and organized by the U.S. Embassy in the Philippines, the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI), and PLDT and Smart Communities, brought together young leaders, innovators, and advocates committed to fostering cyber awareness and resilience.
During the summit, Mr. Aala underscored the importance of strengthening digital literacy and cybersecurity education in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas such as Mindoro, where access to technology and training remains limited. His advocacy centers on empowering communities to use digital tools safely, responsibly, and inclusively—bridging the gap between innovation and protection.
“The internet opens endless opportunities, but it also exposes us to risks,” Mr. Aala emphasized. “Understanding how to stay safe online is not just a skill—it’s a necessity.”
The summit’s workshops and discussions deepened participants’ knowledge on mitigating online threats, responsible digital engagement, and building institutional cybersecurity frameworks. More importantly, it redefined cybersecurity not as a cost, but as an investment in trust, safety, and progress.
This achievement stands as a reflection of the unwavering support and leadership of Dr. Enya Marie Apostol, Mr. Leonel Mendoza, Engr. Randy Joco, and the MinSU i-BIBES Team, whose collective efforts continue to drive innovation, inclusion, and digital empowerment in the MIMAROPA region.
As technology continues to advance, MinSU remains steadfast in its mission to build a digitally responsible and resilient community—one that embraces innovation while safeguarding its people.
