With a shared vision of turning classroom learning into real-world enterprise, four students from Mindoro State University (MinSU) are proving that innovation thrives where passion meets purpose.

The team, composed of Nelson Tibayan, Rich Jay Rivas, Lester Dipasupil, and Jan Henrix Salazar, has developed their very own product - “Vegi-Mush Chips”, a healthy and flavorful snack made from locally-grown vegetables and mushrooms. What began as a simple course requirement for one of their entrepreneurship classes has evolved into a meaningful learning experience - and a venture that has already started to generate profit.

They proudly use raw materials sourced from MinSU’s own agricultural projects, including mushrooms and vegetables cultivated within the university. This sustainable approach not only supports MinSU’s farm initiatives but also demonstrates how students can transform available university resources into viable business ideas.

“This is part of our preparation to become successful entrepreneurs,” the team shared, emphasizing that their coursework at MinSU goes beyond theory by immersing them in the real-world challenges of business development and management.

The Vegi-Mush Chips come in a variety of flavors - plain, barbecue, spicy barbecue, sour cream, and cheese. The group personally handles every aspect of production, from processing and packaging to marketing and sales. They promote their products through campus pop-ups and their official Facebook page, Lineraje, where customers can also place orders.

In support of young entrepreneurs like them, MinSU has provided an incubation room for entrepreneurship students, a dedicated space designed to help them develop, refine, and scale their business ideas. This initiative serves as a hub for innovation and collaboration, giving students the opportunity to transform classroom concepts into market-ready products.

While their business is still in its early stages, the team initiative exemplifies MinSU’s strong commitment to experiential learning and entrepreneurship development, providing students with the tools and confidence to manage and grow their own enterprises.

As Tibayan, Rivas, Dipasupil, and Salazar continue to refine their products, they stand as an inspiring example of how MinSU’s young entrepreneurs are being shaped to become innovative, capable, and socially responsible individuals - ready to make a meaningful impact in their communities.
